Interestingly, if you take this exercise seriously, you might even end up getting consulting offers, which could launch your career in a very different, exciting direction. Personally, I prefer being a consultant than an employee. As a consultant, I have dozens of clients; if I lose one, I only lose a small portion of my income. Plus, as a consultant I am constantly marketing, and so landing a new opportunity is not such a huge deal. For the purposes of this exercise, you are seeking a full-time job offer. However, in the real world, be flexible and agile, ready to turn someone’s interest in you into any form of assignment you can get!

Highlights of the March 2011 Employment Report:
The economy gained 216,000 jobs in March while private sector employment (excludes government losses) increased by 230,000. Together with last month’s revised numbers of 194,000 net total job growth and 240,000 net private jobs, this represents the fastest two month pace since before the recession. The number of unemployed people in March declined to 13.5 million, while the labor force participation rate was unchanged.
The largest private sector job growth occurred in professional and business services (+78,000), education and health (+45,000; 36,600 in health care alone), and leisure and hospitality (+37,000). Most losses were concentrated in government , with local governments shedding 15,000 jobs in March.
The unemployment rate changed little – now 8.8% (from 8.9% in February). The black unemployment rate increased slightly to 15.5%(from 15.3%) – the unemployment rate for black men was up to 16.8% (from 16.2%); for black women, down to 12.5% (from 13.0%). The unemployment rate for whites was 7.9% (from 8.0%) while the Hispanic rate was 11.3% (from 11.6%). Rates of teen unemployment were 21.6% for whites (from 21.3%), 42.1% for African-Americans (from 38.4%) and 31.9% for Latinos (from 30.6%). The rate of underemployment (including the unemployed, marginally attached and those working part-time for economic reasons) was 15.7% (from 15.9%).
The ranks of long-term unemployed (jobless for 27 weeks or more) has been trending up since September 2010 – now at 6.1 million (from 6.0 million) or 45.5% of all unemployed.

When we become fully operational we provide programs to benefit the full range of education from youth to adult. Two of our signature programs include – Achievement Matters and STRIVE.[/fancy_box]
[dropcap2]A[/dropcap2]chievement Matters is a coordinated, thumb intensified and sustained effort to raise the achievement levels of Black Americans and other youth of color within the Toledo Public School system, buy information pills while strengthening their social skills. Cash is often the most convenient form of giving. Cash gifts are fully deductible for federal income tax purposes, provided deductions are itemized.
[dropcap1]2[/dropcap1]Pledges
Pledges enable a donor to plan a personal giving program that is both convenient and tax-wise. A pledge may enable a donor to consider a more significant gift than would have been otherwise possible. Terms for payment on pledges are flexible and at the option of the donor.
[dropcap1]3[/dropcap1]Securities
Securities may be made as outright gifts or as a payment on a pledge. Stock certificates may be reassigned directly to the Greater Toledo Urban League or may be transferred through the donor’s broker. The mean market value on the date of the transfer will determine the value of the gift for tax purposes. It is best to consult with the External Affairs Office before a transaction is made. Gifts of appreciated securities may be tax deductible, up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income. The deduction is based on the full fair market value, and capital gains tax is not due when the stock is transferred to the League.

In certain instances, it may be preferable from an estate, financial and tax planning perspective to consider long-term planning giving as the best way to make a gift. This can be accomplished through various gift instruments, such as charitable reminder trusts, gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, and bequests. UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS FACE BLEAK HOLIDAYS AFTER NOVEMBER 30th IF CONGRESS FAILS TO CONTINUE FEDERAL JOBLESS BENEFITS
[info_box]Issue: Congress returns from its extended mid-term election recess today, remedy November 15th. If Members don’treauthorize existing unemployment insurance (UI) benefits by November 30th, seek approximately 2 million U.S. workers – in December alone – will prematurely lose this crucial lifeline in the middle of the holiday season![/info_box]
Action Needed
Participate in a National Call-In Day on Tuesday, page November 16th. The tool-free number is 1-866-606-1189 and you’ll be patched through to your Congressional members. Urge them to extend UI benefits through December 2011 in light of the slow economic recovery. [See attached Talking Points to assist you.]
Provide unemployed workers the opportunity to tell their Personal Stories by directing them to the following special project by the National Unemployment Law Project (NELP): http://www.nelp.org/page/s/uistories

Talking Points
? Unemployment benefits have kept 3.3 million Americans (including 1 million children) from falling into poverty in 2009 alone!
? The average unemployment check is only $293 a week, covering less than half of the average family’s expenses for food, housing and transportation!
? Hardworking Americans have paid into the UI system their entire working lives – it should be there when Americans need it!
? Jobs are so scarce that if someone could wave a magic wand and instantly fill every job opening with someone who is unemployed, 4 out of 5 of the unemployed would still be out of work!
? UI payments are good for business – they go right back into the economy, bolstering local businesses and saving jobs! The retail sector will take a major hit during this critical holiday season if Congress lets the UI program expire!
The Greater Toledo Urban League is ready to move to new heights. This passed week we participated in the National Urban League Centennial celebration and the synergy was amazing. The conference was very empowering and there were a lot of connections made that will benefit the entire city of Toledo. We currently service clients seeking employment and offer one on one assistance to help them over come any barriers they may have.

Nothing is more important than living a happy, healthy, and full life. We offer senior services, health awareness and youth activity programs in order to help improve the quality of life in the Toledo community and beyond. Our programs, partnered with local community organizations focus on improving the entire being (mind, body, and spirit) while encouraging people of all ages to reach their full potential as a productive addition to their community.
We were selected to participate in the Members Project- an initiative of American Express and the Take Part Foundation that allows users to share information about their charity, viagra volunteer and donate. Every three months American Express tallies the votes and determines five winning charities that share $1, order 000,000 in funding. 2010 Tour Brings Community Service to Neighborhoods
In an effort to continue to provide community service, this site Fifth Third Bank is bringing back its mobile financial information station, healing known as the Homeownership Mobile, medications to Toledo, Sandusky and Monroe, Michigan in May. Serving Fifth Third Bank markets since 2004, the 40-foot eBus is a mobile facility outfitted with the latest electronic technology that provides a convenient venue for knowledgeable professionals to offer credit counseling, home financing and refinancing options, and foreclosure prevention information directly to the community in accessible neighborhood locations. The eBus is scheduled to make seven stops in Toledo between May18 and 28, 2010.
“Offering our knowledge, experience, products and services outside of our traditional offices is not only more convenient, but less intimidating for some people,” said Linda Ewing. “This is a casual, relaxed atmosphere with no 3-piece suits,” she added. “We think the constituents of our partnership agencies will have an increased level of trust because they are familiar with the organization. We know that sitting across a desk in a bank can be uncomfortable. This is our attempt to remove those barriers,” Ms. Ewing said.
The eBus is Internet-equipped with 14 computer terminals to extend access to financial services and homeownership information in a one-on-one setting. In Toledo, free credit reports will be provided by NODA (Northwestern Ohio Development Association) and health screenings will also be available. The ebus will make stops at various community locations as noted in the eBus Flyer below. Services are free and open to the public:
